What does biodegradable mean?
Biodegradable generally describes a material that microorganisms can break down into simpler substances. The term by itself does not state how quickly this happens or under what conditions.

Performance still matters
A bag must perform its primary job before its end-of-life benefits become relevant. Test load capacity, puncture resistance, seal strength, handle performance, storage stability, and compatibility with the packed product.
Some alternative materials respond differently to heat and humidity than conventional plastic. Warehousing conditions and shelf-life expectations should be discussed with the manufacturer, particularly for long-distance export programs.
Will the bag actually reach the right facility?
End-of-life claims only work when collection and processing systems are available. If the target region does not collect compostable packaging, consumers may have no practical route to dispose of it as intended.
Recyclable conventional packaging, recycled content, material reduction, or reusable formats may sometimes deliver a more realistic environmental benefit. The best choice depends on the local waste system and the product application.

Specify the intended use, dimensions, thickness, load, printing, color, annual quantity, storage conditions, target market, and required claim. Ask for the material composition, applicable test standard, certification scope, recommended disposal wording, minimum order quantity, and sample lead time.
