Why are PET clamshells commonly used?
Clear PET clamshells give blueberries a rigid outer structure while allowing shoppers to inspect color and condition. The hinged lid keeps the two parts together during filling, and a secure closure helps prevent accidental opening when containers are handled.
Unlike a flexible bag, a properly designed clamshell helps reduce direct pressure on the berries. It also creates consistent external dimensions, making it easier to organize packs inside master cartons and retail displays.
Ventilation is not a decorative detail

Check closure and stacking performance
A closure must remain secure through packing, cooling, transport, and shelf handling without becoming difficult for the consumer to open. Inspect the lock after the container has been filled. Slight deformation from the product or stacking load can change how the lid engages.
Stack several filled packs inside the intended master carton and reproduce the expected transport conditions. Pay attention to lid collapse, corner damage, movement, and pressure on the bottom layer.
Think about labels and retail display
Blueberry packaging often needs room for a brand label, barcode, origin information, traceability code, and weight declaration. The label area should be large enough for these requirements without blocking the customer’s view of the fruit or covering essential ventilation holes.
Container shape also affects how neatly products align on a shelf. A consistent, stable pack can make replenishment easier for retail staff and create a cleaner display.

Provide the target fill weight, berry size range, container dimensions if fixed, ventilation needs, carton arrangement, annual quantity, and destination market. Ask about food-contact materials, samples, minimum order quantity, tooling, lead time, and quality inspection.
